Eldon Loblein is an audio engineer and electronic / electroacoustic composer, originally from Belfast, Maine. His musical style draws from glitch, dubstep, and IDM, while incorporating orchestral elements and reggaeton rhythms. Also a student of the visual arts, his music closely mirrors his attachment to both realism and abstractionism simultaneously.

In addition to holding an Associate of Science degree in Recording Arts, he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree at the Hartt School, University of Hartford.

Eldon Loblein has had over 10 years of training in music production technology and composition. This includes experience in field recording, sound synthesis, arranging, mixing, editing, mastering, and live electronic/electroacoustic performance.

Software experience includes: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Metasynth, Sound Forge, Ableton Live, and Finale.

Hardware experience includes: Microphones (theory and application); signal processors; amplifiers and loudspeakers; digital and analog consoles including the Amek 9098i, SSL 9000 J, Sony DMX-R100, Soundcraft Ghost, Mackie D8B.

Sound sources: Acoustic guitar, strings, and drumset, spoken Chinese, synths, and other SFX.

Process: Majority of  SFX derived from spoken Chinese, manipulated in Metasynth. Mixed in Logic.

Butter

Sound sources: Field-recorded percussion and flute, sampled instruments.

Process: Samples recorded on portable DAT machine. Granular synthesis achieved through cut-and-paste editing. Mixed in Logic.

Glide

Sound sources: Sampled valiha (tube zither), live violin and SFX.

Process: Granular FX in Metasynth, FM synthesis with ES2 synth (Logic). mixed in Logic.

Ivy

Sound sources: Sampled instruments and live choir.

Process: Score notated in Finale. Choir recorded from 6 vocalists overdubbed x 5 with stereo pair. Recorded and mixed in Logic.

Breathing Machines

Sound sources: Field-recorded accordion and voices. Live piano and sampled Celesta.

Process: Sound filtering and FX via Metasynth. Voice manipulation using Melodyne. Mixed in Logic. Mastered by Jim Chapdelaine.

The Bell Tower

Sound sources: Field-recorded power tools, percussion and metallic objects, sampled instruments.

Process: Samples recorded on portable DAT machine, manipulated in Logic and Ableton Live. Mixed in Logic.
